ROLE OF THE SPECIALTY VOICE CENTER IN THE MAKING OF
THE “SUPERSTAR”
The specialty voice center not only provides care to
patients of all ages at risk of developing vocal problems,
but also act as a resource center to assist the need
of professional voice users mainly singers. From this
end the Specialty voice Center offered and implemented
a fully comprehensive educational program dedicated
exclusively to the Superstar candidates.
The team of the Specialty Voice Center has served to
diagnose any vocal problem, improve vocal function,
and offered coaching support and medical intervention
when needed. Singing problems such as vocal fatigue,
loss of range, pitch break, difficulty in transition
between different register, excessive tension and many
others were identified and treated.
The
Otolaryngogist has fully assessed the
vocal cord anatomy and function using the state of the
art technology such as laryngeal video-endostroboscopy
and Nasopharyngeal laryngoscopoy. This has enabled us
to study and assess the laryngeal biomechanical behavior
in Middle Eastern singing.
The Vocalist has taught the Superstar
candidates how to stand properly and breath efficiently
using special posture and breathing support and control
exercises. She also helped enhancing their vocal technique
by improving their vocal tonality, nasality and expanding
their vocal range using flexibility and agility exercises.
The Speech language pathologist has
focused on word placement, prosodic features and articulatory
problems using digital audio recording and acoustic
analysis.
The Psychotherapist has helped them
overcome their stage fright and has fostered their self
confidence using psychoanalysis.
